The Turner Free Library has a number of activities in the coming weeks for children and adults. In the children’s department, on Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m., youngsters ages 2 1/2 to 5 can learn about animals through stories and an art project. On Nov. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m., “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” will be shown, and Hogwarts finery is encouraged. Light refreshment is provided, and attendees can bring a bagged meal. On Nov. 15, from 4 to 5 p.m., the library will offer a Cabin Fever Celebration for the release of the sixth book in Jeff Kinney’s Wimpy Kids series. Register for these free events via ralib@ocln.org. Adult book lovers may want to join the Shalom Readers’ Group, which explores books with Jewish themes. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting is Oct. 24, when a novel by lawyer Alan M. Dershowitz, “Just Revenge,” will be discussed. On Oct. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m., artist Greg Maichack will hold a free workshop on “The Art of Georgia O’Keeffe: How to Pastel-Paint Flowers.’’ No artistic experience necessary and all materials are provided. Seating is limited, so reserve a seat by calling Ellie Nagle at 781-986-4829. - Wendy Chow
