Residents can gain some insights into the town’s past while getting in the mood for Halloween. The Tewksbury Historical Society is holding its annual cemetery tour at East Street Cemetery on Friday at 6 p.m. and next Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The society holds a tour of a different town cemetery each October. With the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War being commemorated this year, Kim Zunino, the guide for this year’s tour, will talk about Tewksbury’s involvement in the conflict. She will also talk about the history of East Street Cemetery, the town’s main cemetery. Residents are asked to bring flashlights to the Friday evening tour. Children under 12 should attend the Sunday tour. The tour costs $6 for society members and $8 for nonmembers, and it is advised that tickets be purchased or reserved. To buy or reserve a ticket, e-mail tewksburyhistoricalsociety@msn.com, drop by the local history room at the public library on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., or write to the Tewksbury Historical Society, Box 522, Tewksbury MA 01876. - John Laidler![]()
