The Police Department is offering a self-defense program for women in four Thursday evening sessions starting this week. The “Rape Aggression Defense” system, which has been offered nationally for 20 years, teaches a range of self-defense options through lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice. The classes will be led by Bedford police officers who are certified instructors. The program will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. each Thursday through Nov. 10, with the location still to be determined. The program is free but space is limited, so interested participants should register by contacting Kristen Dineen at 781-275-1212 or kdineen@ police.bedfordma.gov. - Nancy Shohet West
