Fire Lieutenant Timothy Clancy has been appointed a special police officer as part of his enhanced role as a tactical paramedic with the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council. To qualify for the position, Clancy completed a 16-week training course at the Basic Reserve Police Academy. He has been training with the tactical unit for about a year. Whitman police have three officers assigned to the council’s special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team. Including a paramedic on the team is crucial to providing immediate care to officers injured in high-risk situations. - Christine Legere
