Demand letters are being distributed by a constable to 65 Wellesley families who owe $100 or more in school lunch fees, according to Wellesley school business manager Ruth Quinn Berdell. Meanwhile, Superintendent Bella Wong announced plans for another audit of the business office by the Massachusetts Association of School Business Officials, to begin next month. It will focus on whether that office needs additional resources to operate effectively. She said she hopes to have results by December. The demand letters are an effort to collect $47,808 in debt that remained as of Oct. 3. School officials determined last spring that because of a faulty billing system, parents had not been billed $169,000 in lunch money.
