Two weeks after meeting with representatives from Waterline Industries Corp. and the town’s energy consultants, selectmen are expected during their meeting Tuesday night to sign an agreement to purchase electricity from the company’s solar-power project, to be built along the Route 44 embankment. The deal calls for Waterline Industries to provide electricity at a reduced rate to the North Carver Water District for 20 years. After that, the solar array would belong to the town. The developers are seeking to have the agreement settled in time to take advantage of a federal tax break for renewable energy projects under way by Dec. 31. Glen Berkowitz, a consultant with Beaufort Power, said the solar array would be only the second such installation along a divided highway in the country. - Robert Knox![]()
