School Superintendent Patricia Oakley has been selected West Bridgewater Citizen of the Year for 2011 by the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters. The club annually presents an award to one citizen from each of its three towns - Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, and West Bridgewater - recognizing them for their contributions to the quality of life in the communities. Oakley, a West Bridgewater resident, has been superintendent since 2007. Prior to that, she served as the district’s K-12 curriculum director from 2003 to 2007, and was a biology and oceanography teacher at the Middle/Senior High School from 1987 to 1999, also serving as the math and science department head and the school’s field hockey and track coach for some of that time. This year’s awards will be presented at a ceremony on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Moakley Center at Bridgewater State University. For tickets or more information, call Jodi Correia at 508-894-1230, ext. 118. - John Laidler ![]()
