SHREWSBURY
Registration opens at 10 a.m. today for the seventh annual Veterans Memorial 5K Road Race. More than 300 runners are expected at the 1 p.m. starting line, said Amanda Riik, spokeswoman for Veterans Inc., the Worcester-based nonprofit that organizes the event. Also scheduled for the day is a salute at 12:40 p.m. to those who’ve served in the armed forces, and a short children’s race. Registration for the adult race is $20; veterans and active duty military can register for $10. The entry fee for the children’s race is a can or box of food for donation to local food pantries.
