Apply now for scholarships

The application period for a town scholarship is underway, with high school seniors invited to submit their requests online or in hard copy. The deadline is March 14. Application forms are available at the high school guidance office, the office of the Board of Selectmen, and at www.shrewsbury-ma.gov. The awards are granted according to applicants’ evidence of financial need, academic achievement, community service, and character. Last year, the town gave out $500 scholarships to 17 local students who were going on to college. The scholarships have funded by individual contributions of various kinds since 1995. - James O’Brien
