Mayor Scott D. Galvin was recently elected to a seat on the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization. The group is a cooperative board of 22 voting and two nonvoting members that undertakes tranportation planning for the region and allocates federal and states funds to road, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian projects. Galvin will be representing the North Suburban Planning Council, an association of nine communities that engages in regional planning efforts. In addition to Woburn, it covers Burlington, Lynnfield, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Wilmington, and Winchester. Noting that this marks the first time Woburn has had a seat on the organization, Galvin said: “I’m happy. I think it’s a good opportunity for the city and the area I will represent to advocate for projects that impact this region.”
