Easton is looking to replace two more key government players. Wayne Southworth, director of the Department of Public Works and town engineer, and Kit Minsky, citizen-business advocate, are leaving their jobs, which follows Fire Chief Thomas Stone’s announcement that he plans to retire. About 20 candidates have applied to replace Stone, who is leaving in January after nine years as chief and 33 years with the Fire Department. Southworth is retiring after 42 years with the town. He began as a laborer and worked his way up. The DPW chief, who oversees a staff of 34 and a budget of $5 million, must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 10 years of related experience. The job pays between $82,600 and $117,500. Minsky is taking a combined support job with the Board of Health and building inspector. The advocate, who provides support for the town administrator and selectmen and assists people in navigating governmental processes, must have at least an associate’s degree and three years of experience, and is paid $42,600. - Steve Hatch![]()
