Three artists at Gorse Mill Studios on Thorpe Road have taken up encaustic painting, an ancient technique that combines pigments, molten beeswax, and resin to create luminous and permanent works of art. The three, Karen Krieger, Ruth LaGue, and Amalia Tagaris, ended up as neighbors in the studio building by chance, and have since collaborated and shared tips on encaustic painting. The artists will open their studios to the public Dec. 3 and 4 for the Needham Holiday Sale. To learn more about the artists, visit www.gorsemillstudios.com. For details on the sale, see www.needhamholidaysale.com. - Dan Adams
