DUXBURY | BRIEFS
Duxbury officials have begun working with an alternative-energy consultant to develop a solar-energy project for the town’s landfill. Town Meeting voters recently approved a measure to develop a 200- to 300-kilowatt solar photovoltaic array of more than 1,000 panels to be installed over 1 to 2 acres of the capped landfill on Mayflower Street. A private developer would build and operate a solar-energy system to produce renewable energy for the electric grid and provide the town with energy at below-market rates. Town Manager Richard McDonald said the town’s Alternative Energy Committee is meeting with the consultant to develop specific plans for the project. - Robert Knox![]()
