Voters face a 32-article warrant at the Special Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the auditorium of Old Rochester Regional High School. Included on the warrant is an article submitted by selectmen that would allow the town to seek state approval to raise aquaculture license fees from $25 per acre to $200 per acre. Another article, submitted by former selectman George Randall and other petitioners, seeks to prohibit aquaculture in town waters, in an area of the 25-mile coastline from Fairhaven to Marion, and to the commercial shell fishing line. The town is creating a waterfront management plan, part of which would address aquaculture farming. That proposal can be read at www.mattapoisett.net. - Paul Kandarian![]()
