The fate of a new Marshfield High School rests in the hands of Thursday’s Town Meeting, followed by a ballot on Saturday on a proposed temporary property tax increase to fund the project. The Town Meeting article would authorize the town to fund its portion of the $101 million construction project, estimated at $55 million. The remainder would come from the state. An explanatory statement on the warrant projects the property tax increase at about $100 for every $100,000 of assessed home value over a 20-year period. Town Meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the high school and at Furnace Brook Middle School; residents may attend at either location. At the ballot box on Saturday, the town would vote on a debt exclusion, which would allow Marshfield to exclude the borrowing from the limits of the state’s Proposition 2 1/2½ tax-limit law. - Jennette Barnes
