A Jan. 12 trial date has been set for Eric Sideri, operator of Angela’s Coal Fired Pizza, and the shop’s manager, Alfonso Guevara, who face kidnapping and assault charges stemming from a March 2009 incident. A former employee of the shop, Lucio Oliveira, told police that Sideri and Guevara cornered him, handcuffed him with plastic zip ties, accused him of stealing about $27,000 from the business over the course of the previous year, beat him with a baseball bat, and threatened his life if he didn’t return the money. At the men’s arraignment, a lawyer for Sideri said his client had acted in self-defense in an altercation after confronting Oliveira about the alleged theft.
