Christopher Farmer, superintendent of the Triton Regional School District, confirmed on Tuesday that high school principal Kevin M. McLaughlin has been dismissed from his job.
Citing state privacy laws, he refused to provide a specific reason for McLaughlin’s termination. “It’s a private personnel matter,’’ Farmer said during a brief telephone interview.
McLaughlin, 57, had been principal since 2007. He did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Farmer named Kathryn Dawe, who has served as assistant principal since 2003, interim principal of the high school.
The search for McLaughlin’s successor is expected to begin in February.
The Triton school serves students from Newbury, Rowley, and Salisbury.
