The School Committee is investigating whether it should give Canton High School students a chance to sleep in a little later. Superintendent Jeff Granatino has formed a subcommittee to evaluate the viability of moving back the school’s start time, which is now 7:20 a.m. “There are a variety of reasons to investigate this issue, with many studies showing that our teenage students are not getting enough sleep,’’ Granatino said in his newsletter. School Committee chairman John Bonnanzio said the recommendations will have to balance the need for more sleep with the practical challenges of scheduling and traffic patterns. The committee will gather information from other communities that have debated the switch, as well as parents, students, and staff.
