In a ceremony Monday, officials from the state’s Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and the Department of Energy Resources congratulated Maynard for becoming the 100th municipality to adopt the set of energy-efficient building regulations known as the stretch code. The code, which Maynard residents voted to adopt at Special Town Meeting last month, mandates about 20 percent greater building energy efficiency. Newton was also celebrated at the event, which was held at Maynard Public Library, for being the state’s first community to adopt the stretch code. - Michelle Cerulli
