Deer hunt seen as success
Vestas Americas, a manufacturer of power-generating wind turbines, held a groundbreaking ceremony Nov. 17 for a 27,000-square-foot research and development facility on 8.5 acres off Fitchburg Street. The complex, next to the Chestnut Ridge Building at 100 Crowley Drive, will focus on developing electric-power generators and converters for wind turbines. The Danish company, which employs 34 people in the state, plans to invest $16 million in the project, which would create more than 60 full-time positions, including engineers, technicians, and administrative staff, officials said. Vestas expects to begin moving employees into the Chestnut Ridge Building early next year. The target completion date for the new center is next summer. - Michelle Cerulli![]()
