The Norfolk Public Library will host a presentation and discussion on the story of the Dead Sea Scrolls at 7 p.m. Thursday. Yonder Gillihan, a Norfolk resident and theology instructor at Boston College, will lead the slide-based, interactive retelling of the history of the scrolls, from their discovery more than 60 years ago to their origin two millennia earlier. His talk, “A Most Uncanny Story: The Dead Sea Scrolls, the History of Israel, and Crisis in the Middle East,’’ will also explore what their contents reveal about Christianity and Judaism, and how studying ancient history can promote understanding and peacemaking in the Middle East today. The library is at 139 Main St. For details, call the library at 508-528-3380 or visit its website, library.virtualnorfolk.org. - Rachel Lebeaux
