A group formed to advocate for expansion of the Stoughton Public Library has registered with the state as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity. The Support Our Library Association was formed as a required fund-raising and support arm of the planned expansion, which was overwhelmingly approved by Town Meeting in May. “As part of the public library construction grant application, we need to show strong community support,” said Stoughton Library director Pat Basler, “and [the association] will do just that.” Members said the group will be soliciting memberships at various levels as well as personal, corporate, and endowment donations. Association president Dori Frankel said memberships range from $10 to $150. Other recently elected officers are Dolores Cummings, vice president; Marylou Giordano, treasurer; Ann McDonald, secretary; and board members Melinda Rios, Linda Nobil, Arlene Bown, and Sharon Fradkin. The association will have a mailbox at the library for correspondence and to receive initial membership funds. - Rich Fahey
