North Shore Community College is marking World AIDS Day on Thursday by hosting a forum on its Lynn campus. The event, free and open to the public, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the gym, 300 Broad St. Focusing on “Gender and HIV in the African Community,” the forum will be headlined by Sarah Rial, who was one of four people presented with the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights in 2010 by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The award goes to honor US citizens who advocate for human rights. Rial is a native of southern Sudan and program director of My Sister’s Keeper, a Boston-based grass-roots humanitarian organization focused on education in southern Sudan. - John Laidler
