YMCA opens day-care center

The YMCA has opened a new day-care center in the formerly vacant Whittier Building on Winter Street. The YMCA Children’s Learning Center, which cares for youngsters ages 2 to 6, celebrated its grand opening earlier this month. The red brick building had been vacant for three years, since the Chamber of Commerce moved out of the site. The historic building, adjacent to the Haverhill YMCA at 81 Winter St., was renovated earlier this year to house the YMCA day-care center, which was previously in Groveland.
