Anthony won’t seek reelection
Longtime Selectwoman Camille Anthony, the board’s current chairwoman, has announced she will not seek reelection when her term expires in March. Anthony, who has served on the board for 18 years, announced her decision at the Nov. 22 Board of Selectmen meeting. Anthony was to be the only member of the board up for reelection in 2012. Anyone interested in running for the seat must file nomination papers, which are now available at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall. The election is scheduled for March 6; it will be held in conjunction with the state’s presidential primary election. Voters also will be choosing a town moderator, a member of the Board of Assessors, two library trustees, two members of the Reading Municipal Light Board, and two School Committee members. All Town Meeting members who wish to continue serving must pull papers and seek reelection, regardless of when their terms were scheduled to expire, as a result of redistricting. - Brenda J.
