For student television producer Daniel Sheehy, the recent gift of about $100,000 in video equipment from Canton Community Television means that he and his viewers can keep their eyes on the ball all the time. Sheehy, a Canton High School junior, this fall helped coordinate a camera crew of five to 10 students to cover sports, including girls’ volleyball. The CCTV donation allowed the school to replace equipment that was more than a dozen years old with modern technology, including three mounted digital cameras. “This is a big change for us. There is a huge advantage of having the new equipment,” said Sheehy, who would like to study film. With multiple cameras, one can always be fixed on the ball, he said, and the production is more interesting for viewers. Television production teacher Ed McDonough said the gift is part of a partnership with CCTV that dates to the 1980s. - Elaine Cushman Carroll
