The Norton Energy Fund, a joint effort by Norton’s town nurse, veterans’ office administrator, local citizens and St. Vincent de Paul Society, hopes to raise public awareness and support for residents who need temporary assistance to meet the rising cost of heating their homes. The energy fund is a volunteer organization, and every penny collected goes directly toward keeping the heat on in Norton homes. The policy is to help once per calendar year with a donation of 100 gallons of oil or its equivalent in electricity, gas, propane, wood, or pellets. Those wishing to contribute a tax-deductible donation may send it to Norton Energy Fund, c/o St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1 Power St., Norton, MA, 02766. Questions can be directed to the veterans office at 508-285-0218.
