A Special Town Meeting voted last week to spend $15,000 to hire a consultant to assess the need for a new senior center. The study will focus on how large a center should be and what activities it should include, according to town officials. The Social Service League of Cohasset has committed $1 million to the project, which would be built on town-owned land near the Cohasset Swim Center. A majority of the Advisory Board recommended against the study, saying it should be considered instead at the regular spring Town Meeting in the context of all town finances. But last Monday’s meeting voted to move forward immediately. About a quarter of Cohasset’s population is age 60 or older. - Johanna Seltz![]()
