The Historical Society of Old Abington, busy planning events to celebrate the tricentennial of the town that originally included Rockland, is preparing to crack open a time capsule from 1912 during its 2:30 p.m. meeting next Sunday at the Dyer Memorial Library, 28 Centre Ave. Doug Ulwick, the society’s president, will speak about the bicentennial celebrations in 1912 to set the stage for the capsule’s opening. Rockland, once the village of East Abington, became a separate town in 1874. Whitman also was once part of Abington. - Steve Hatch
