Individuals or families who have lost homes to foreclosure may be eligible to receive a grant of up to $7,000 from Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore to assist with expenses incurred while moving out of their homes. Funding comes from a multimillion-dollar settlement the attorney general’s office made with Morgan Stanley & Co., but housing officials say it has been difficult to find residents who qualify for assistance. Those eligible can receive payment for a variety of expenses, including the cost of temporary housing or rental assistance. Grants may also be available retroactively. To learn more about the program, contact Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore at 508-587-0950, ext. 45, or toll free at 855-464-7669, ext. 45. Individuals can also visit www.neighborhoodhousing.org or one of Neighborhood Housing’s offices in Quincy, Brockton, and New Bedford. - Jessica Bartlett
