Get rid of hazardous waste

The city is holding a household hazardous waste drop-off day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Residents can drop off items at the City Services yard, 19 Norman St., at no charge. Those wishing to drop off items will be required to show proof of residence. Items that will be accepted include oil-based paints and related products such as varnish and paint remover; kitchen and bathroom cleaning products; toxic garden and lawn products; motor oil; and empty propane tanks. Items that will not be taken include gas grills, latex paint, tires, and car batteries.
