Everett firefighters overcame two frozen hydrants, a burst hose, and a brutal wind as they battled subzero temperatures and extinguished a two-alarm blaze this morning on Cleveland Avenue.
"It was a little demanding, but the guys did a great job," Everett Fire Captain Joe Hickey said.
Firefighters responded to the fire in rear of the three-story wood frame home at 5 a.m. The blaze was under control in 45 minutes, Hickey said.
One fire fighter suffered minor injuries. The house sustained an estimated $80,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials don't suspect arson, Hickey said.
