Man charged in Allston slaying
By Globe Staff
A man has been charged with murder for the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old in Allston last weekend, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said.
Thomas Manning will be arraigned today in Brighton District Court, according to spokesman Jake Wark. Manning’s age was not immediately available.
Manning was arrested Monday night after “an intense and focused investigation” by Boston police homicide detectives, Wark said.
The slaying of Luis Ortiz at 2 a.m. Saturday shook some residents of this neighborhood, which is largely populated by college students. Witnesses said they heard gunfire and saw a flurry of police activity near the intersection of Linden and Pratt streets.
