Mayor Thomas Menino unveiled a new Frank Sinatra stamp today before a crowd of several dozen in City Hall.

"It's music to live by. ... This music will last forever," said Menino, who is the city's first Italian-American mayor. "Let me tell you, folks, he was as gracious, charming and warm in person as he appeared on stage."

The US Postal Service released the stamp last month. Menino was joined by "Simply Sinatra" WPLM-FM radio host Ron Della Chiesa and Boston Postmaster James Holland in the local celebration of the Italian-American singing legend, who died in 1998.
