Truck runs over man in highway construction zone

A man was killed early this morning when he was struck by a dump truck driving in reverse in a construction zone on Interstate 495 in Lawrence.
The accident happened at about 1:30 a.m. in the closed left lane of the highway near the Merrimack Street exit, State Police said in a statement.
The driver of the 1989 10-wheel Mack dump truck was not hurt; neither was a woman sitting in the passenger seat.
The man hit by the truck was declared dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of his family, police said.
