A young man who was shot by Boston Police last night in the city's East Boston section is to be arraigned today in East Boston District Court on drug-related charges, prosecutors said this morning.

Ariel Lara Agusviva, 18, of Jamaica Plain, was shot during a struggle after a vehicle stop. He and Jorge Luis Ortiz Lara, 22, of Palmer are facing heroin possession charges. A third man is facing a traffic citation.

Police are conducting an investigation into the shooting, which happened at about 8:30 p.m.

Police said the officer was working with State Police drug detectives on an investigation when he tried to stop a sport utility vehicle on Princeton Street.

"A struggle ensued, and one shot was discharged," Police Superintendent Bruce Holloway said in today's Globe.
