The Coast Guard is searching for a diver who failed to surface this morning from a dive in waters approximately 40 miles south of Nantucket.
The Coast Guard received a distress call at around noon from a 38-foot vessel reporting that one of its divers had not surfaced by 11 a.m., as expected.
The Coast Guard sent two Jayhawk helicopters from Cape Cod to search the area, along with the Hammerhead, an 87-foot patrol boat from Woods Hole.
“The Coast Guard recommends taking all safety precautions necessary to remain safe while diving and to always have a dive partner,” Petty Officer Stephen Kent, the search and rescue controller at the Boston Coast Guard office, said in a statement.
