Coast Guard suspends search for missing man

The Coast Guard has suspended its two-day search for a Quincy man who fell overboard Thursday from a motorboat near Deer Island.
Anthony Tufo, 59, a court officer who ran in the Boston Marathon in April, is presumed drowned.
"The decision to end an active search is a very difficult one," Captain Gail Kulisch, the commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Boston, said this morning in a statement. "While the Coast Guard's active effort has ended after an exhaustive search, we will remain vigilant for any additional information or sightings related to this case."
Rescuers searched for 40 hours for Tufo, who fell from the 34-foot Nina Maria just before a powerful storm swept through the area Thursday evening. The 87-foot Coast Guard cutter Hammerhead out of Woods Hole was joined by helicopter crews and state and local rescuers.
