REVERE -- A 20-year-old man from Brockton was killed early this morning when the red Ford Mustang he was driving skipped over a curb and crashed into a furniture store, police said.

The single car crash occurred at about 5:45 a.m. on North Shore Road when the southbound convertible hit A-1 Furniture, a turquoise-colored store near the intersection with Beachland Avenue.

"There's a curve in the road just prior to that," said Captain Michael Murphy of the Revere Police Department. "Certainly we are going to be looking at speed in our investigation because speed is often a factor in crashes in that area."

The driver was the lone occupant of the car, and he died at the scene. Police identified him this afternoon as Zuri Taylor, 20, of Brockton.

Another car hit A-1 Furniture in November, and construction crews had just delivered materials on Wednesday to begin repairs, according to the owner, David Preble. He and other residents said motorists frequently drive too fast on the road, which has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour.

"I don't know what can be changed," Preble said, "just the mentality of people driving."
