A Rhode Island man who was dubbed the "Teardrop Bandit" by the media was convicted of robbery today in Norfolk Superior Court, prosecutors said.
Robert J. Chadronet was convicted of unarmed robbery, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating said in a statement.
Chadronet walked into a Foxborough bank on Feb. 24, 2005, and handed a teller a note demanding money and claiming he had a weapon. The teller later told police that the robber had a teardrop under his left eye and that it looked smudged, prosecutors said.
Keating said Chadronet is still facing charges in other armed robberies in Sharon, Needham, and Franklin.
Chadronet, who is being held without bail, is to be sentenced on Sept. 9 in Norfolk Superior Court.
