Huntington Avenue was briefly shut down this morning after the transmission fluid lines on a city garbage truck broke and leaked onto the street, said Steve MacDonald, a Boston Fire Department spokesman.
The fluid spilled in front of the 800 block, on the edge of the Longwood medical area. The street was shut down for about 30 minutes, MacDonald said.
Fire engines and a hazardous materials response unit arrived at the scene. One man was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after the scooter he was riding slipped on the fluid, McDonald said.
Sand was thrown on the liquid to absorb it and the street is now open, he said.
