KENNEBUNKPORT, MAINE -- Dozens of antiwar protesters gathered today in this seaside town and marched toward the Bush family compound, which President Bush is visiting for several days.
The protesters walked two miles to the compound on Walker's Point and then two miles to the school parking lot where they assembled. Some chanted, "Occupation is a crime/Bush and Cheney should be doing time." Others held signs saying, "War is Not the Answer," and "No More Bush Wars."
The president took a bike ride this morning and had a 10-minute telephone conversation with the president of Brazil, a spokeswoman. He's expected to attend a family wedding during his visit. He arrived Thursday afternoon and is expected to leave Sunday morning.
