Law enforcement authorities today released the name of the victim of Monday's hit-and-run death in Wakefield and sought the public's help in finding the driver.

Susan Harmon, a 44-year-old grandmother from Melrose, was hit by the car while she sat in the middle of Greenwood Street Monday evening. The driver of what police described as a tan or green Audi did not stop at the scene.

"We are looking for the community's help, people's help, in identifying the car that struck Susan Harmon," Wakefield Police Chief Richard E. Smith said. "We are dedicated to finding the people responsible for this tragedy."

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said Wakefield police and state police from his office were investigating.

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact Wakefield Police at 781-246-6331.
