A body was found in the Charles River this morning, about 30 feet offshore, near the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge.
The body, believed to be that of a man in his 40s, was reported at about 11:35 a.m. State Police detectives, who investigate all fatalities on the river, are pursuing "promising leads" as to the man's identity, said Suffolk district attorney's spokesman Jake Wark.
No obvious signs of trauma were found on the body. An autopsy this weekend is expected to determine the cause of death and the amount of time the man was in the water, Wark said.
