Former Waltham youth coach pleads guilty to child porn charges

A former Waltham youth sports coach pleaded guilty today to possession of child pornography and child enticement charges. He was sentenced to 120 days in prison and seven years of wearing a GPS bracelet so authorities can monitor his whereabouts.

James Aucoin, 46, of Waltham pleaded guilty before Waltham District Court Judge Tobin N. Harvey and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in the Middlesex County House of Correction, all of it suspended except for 120 days.

In addition to ordering Aucoin to wear the bracelet for seven years, the judge barred him going within 300 feet of schools, day care centers, parks, and playgrounds, and restricted his use of computers and the Internet.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerard C. Leone’s office said that a Keene, N.H., police officer posed as a 14-year-old boy and engaged in on-line conversations with Aucoin. Aucoin told the “boy” he would go to New Hampshire so they could have sex.

Waltham Police obtained a search warrant for Aucoin’s computers and discovered “multiple images’’ of children posing and engaging in sexual activity, prosecutors said.

Prior to his arrest, Aucoin had been involved in youth baseball, football, and the Boy Scouts programs in Waltham, prosecutors said.
