Two Weymouth teenagers are in critical condition after a violent collision this morning between a pickup truck and an SUV just north of Bridgewater Center.

Sinead Byrnes, 17, and Sarah Langenthal, 16, were transported to Boston Medical Center after the Nissan Pathfinder they were in, driven by Matthew Aruda, 19, of Hingham, veered from the southbound into the northbound lane of Route 18 at about 8 a.m., police said.

The SUV crashed into a Dodge pickup driven by Michael Moitoza, 20, of Taunton. Bridgewater Police Lieutenant Christopher Delmonte said that Moitoza did not have time to avoid the collision. Both he and his passenger, Joel Nunes, 20, of Taunton, suffered cuts, bumps, and bruises. They were treated and released from the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. Aruda was released with minor injuries from Morton Hospital and Medical Center.

Bridgewater police are investigating the crash.
