Three teenagers were killed and a fourth was injured in a car crash Thursday night in Orange.

Brittany Bailey, 18, and Angelica Cheverez, 18, both of Orange, and Joseph Songer, 18, of Athol, were killed after their Chevrolet left Athol Road around 11 p.m. and struck a tree on the right side of the road, police said.

Frederic Adams, 17, of Athol, was injured in the crash and taken to Athol Memorial Hospital before he was transferred to a hospital in Worcester, said Orange Police Chief Brian Spear. He did not know Adams's condition.

Spear would not comment on how the crash might have happened. He said the accident was under investigation.

Athol Road is a residential country road that becomes Sentinel Elm Road, Spear said. To stay on Athol, cars must follow a fork to the left. He said the accident happened near the fork.
