A 22-year-old Dorchester man is facing a charge of cruelty to animals after allegedly hitting his girlfriend's cat with a sauce pan.
Emmanuel Rodriguez was arrested Thursday afternoon on Washington Street. The white cat, named Snowballs, was taken to the MSPCA-Angell Animal Medical Center, where it is recovering from its injuries.
Rodriguez's girlfriend said he had told her he hit the cat because it knocked over a computer monitor. She said it wasn't the first time he had harmed the cat, but she also didn't want him to go to jail.
During the booking process, Rodriguez told officers, "I didn't know I could get arrested for hitting a cat," according to a police report filed in the case.
Rodriguez was freed yesterday after posting $500 bail at the district station. His next court hearing will be Dec. 4, said Suffolk district attorney's spokesman Jake Wark. Rodriguez's attorney, Harris Jordan, didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.

To all you cowards who beat animals, the same thing should happen to you. You all get mad and take it out on an animal that cant fight back . But some day someone or something is going to get you ,and may it be millions of times worse. What ever you get YOU DESERVE.
