Police investigate possible hostage case
By Emily Canal, Globe Correspondent
Boston and state police responded tonight to a call from a man in a building near Massachusetts General Hospital, in which the caller said he had killed his wife and would kill himself if police entered his apartment on Emerson Place.
Officer Eddy Chrispin of the Boston Police Department said authorities requested a hostage negotiation and an entry team to the site, but had not entered the apartment right away. The call to police was made about 10 p.m. from the Charles River Park Apartments, officials said.
An occupant of the apartment complex, who asked to remain anonymous, said he heard what sounded like backfire from a car about 10 p.m. and from his window saw vehicles blocking the entrance to the building.
