The Red Sox will kick off their postseason push for another World Championship this afternoon with a rally at Fenway Park.

Gate D will open at 3:30 p.m. for a rally that will include the team's ownership, manager Terry Francona, and unspecified players. The celebration for the American League wild-card winner will be hosted by Don Orsillo, a play-by-play commentator for NESN.

The Sox face the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night in Anaheim in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. In 2007 Boston swept the Angels in the first round of the playoffs en route to the team's second World Series crown in four seasons.

This afternoon the first 2,500 fans who stream into Fenway Park will receive a coupon good for a free hot dog and soda. Last year about 5,000 fans attended a rally at City Hall Plaza that included pitchers Jonathan Papelbon, Mike Timlin, and Javier Lopez.

Other cities with playoff teams have planned similar rallies, which have been sponsored by Major League Baseball since 2004.
